Rethinking Occupation
Think back to the first time you heard about occupational therapy (OT). What did you think this was? Did you think that it was about helping people to get jobs?
What about after seeing therapists in action? Did you get confused wondering, "Isn't this just physiotherapy?"
Now, let's straighten out this question: What is ‘occupation’ in OT?
Simply put, occupations are our various life activities. This can take many forms other than work or studies, including leisure, rest and even daily self-care routines (Law et al., 1996).
